Eichler History

Eichler Homes, the company run by Joseph Eichler from 1949 to 1966, built more than 10,000 homes in the San Francisco area and about 900 in Southern California.

I've collected several magazine articles, sales brochures, and other items that relate to Eichlers built in The Highlands from 1956 to 1965.

An Eichler owner in Sunnyvale loaned me color copies of an article published in Family Circle magazine that is about our Eichler model. The date of the issue is unknown, but it is probably early 1960's. The text is typical marketing fluff but the pictures are priceless. Taken by Ernie Braun, the principal Eichler photographer in the late 50's and early 60's, they are unusual in that they are in color. View more articles.

This Eichler brochure was used to promote a late stage of development of the San Mateo Highlands subdivision, when some adjacent streets were built out in 1957-58. View more brochures.
