We have been wanting to replace the tired linoleum and faded carpeting ever since purchasing the house in 2000. The carpeting was of course a bad choice by a previous owner for a radiant heat house. So we are very pleased with the way the new slate tile looks. This photo is of the newly installed master bedroom floor, just sealed with two coats of an "enhancer" that further darkens the black slate color we selected. Being a natural material, of course the tiles vary somewhat, but this photo is the most accurate of the many I've taken in showing just how homogenous the new flooring appears.
